2014 Sailing Season V1
In 2014 we will offer regular sailing on Saturdays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We will also offer some Thursdays for "exceptional groups" - these are for groups who do no have regular sailing slots.
Exceptional Sailing Days for Exceptional Sailors
CVSS has always offered a limited number of these each season and we want you to know more about them. All CVSS sailors have some disability. However we know there are groups of children and adults whose disabilities are such that a regular one-hour sailing slot would be inappropriate but who would enjoy a "water experience" that was more flexible. In the past we have offered a 10:30 a.m. - 14:30 p.m. "day" to such groups and have organised katakanu trips. The cost is £5 per sailor. We restrict this experience to sailors who cannot participate in our usual CVSS offering. These visits are best mid-June to mid-September when we hope for warmer weather.
If you know of a group who would like to consider coming for a "one-off" day visit, please contact Frances

New Pontoon for 2014
Over the winter we are bidding adieu to our "H" pontoon. It has served us very well for many years but having had a season with the new, large pontoon we realised it was time to say "Goodbye."
The "Old H" will be replaced by a finger pontoon .It will be in the same location and will be the same size overall, with a single hoist point at the end. Its key advantage will be the very high level of stability it will provide - similar to that of the large pontoon. It will stay in the water all year round - one less task for the laying up squad.
We have placed the order with the same manufacture that built the large pontoon and paid a deposit. The parts are on order and we expect the installation will be complete by the training days in April.
So here are some pictures of 'Old H' – watch out for photos of the new pontoon during the spring. These images can be viewed at a larger size here.
Father Christmas comes early to CVSS
There wasn't a sleigh and reindeer but CVSS took delivery of a super Christmas gift on Tuesday 17th December.
Steve Sawford, who builds our ACCESS dinghies, brought two new boats ready for the 2014 season.
We took delivery of a red 203 (single) boat and a green 303, both paid for by the Hertfordshire "Short Breaks for Disabled Children Fund".
It was great to see Steve and, as you can see, David and Dom were delighted with the new boats.
