Winter Storms at BLYM
Well none of us can have missed how wet and windy it has been.
In these conditions we check on the boats every week and BLYM members are very good at letting us know if there are problems with our boats and equipment.
Weekend of 3rd January we had some problems with 2 katakanu hulls making an escape from their storage positions. On Sunday 5th Lance and David spent a happy hour draining the hulls and they are now all tied down outside the gazebo.
If you walk around Bury Lake during the closed season and see anything around the CVSS area that causes concern, please contact David Harris

New Pontoon for 2014
Over the winter we are bidding adieu to our "H" pontoon. It has served us very well for many years but having had a season with the new, large pontoon we realised it was time to say "Goodbye."
The "Old H" will be replaced by a finger pontoon .It will be in the same location and will be the same size overall, with a single hoist point at the end. Its key advantage will be the very high level of stability it will provide - similar to that of the large pontoon. It will stay in the water all year round - one less task for the laying up squad.
We have placed the order with the same manufacture that built the large pontoon and paid a deposit. The parts are on order and we expect the installation will be complete by the training days in April.
So here are some pictures of 'Old H' – watch out for photos of the new pontoon during the spring. These images can be viewed at a larger size here.
Father Christmas comes early to CVSS
There wasn't a sleigh and reindeer but CVSS took delivery of a super Christmas gift on Tuesday 17th December.
Steve Sawford, who builds our ACCESS dinghies, brought two new boats ready for the 2014 season.
We took delivery of a red 203 (single) boat and a green 303, both paid for by the Hertfordshire "Short Breaks for Disabled Children Fund".
It was great to see Steve and, as you can see, David and Dom were delighted with the new boats.
Watford Accordion Band help CVSS to the tune of £445
The Watford Accordion Band played for 3 hours at the intu Centre Watford
on 30th November.
Thanks to excellent support from a choir including CVSS volunteers and the generous support of the public, £445 was raised for our funds - and a good time was had by all.
