Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

CVSS are deeply saddened at the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We have been fortunate to enjoy her unparalleled and dignified service and duty for so many decades. Queen Elizabeth had been a constant and uniting force in our lives and the lives of our nation and beyond and will be sadly missed.

We extend our deepest condolences to King Charles III and the Royal Family

We know how important sailing is to so many people and we will continue to sail as normal this week (including Saturday) Sailing has been cancelled on the day of the Funeral next Monday (19th September) and will return to normal from next Tuesday.

Volunteers Open Days

Two Open Days to attract new volunteers were held on Saturday 23rd and Monday 25th April. This was a chance for prospective volunteers to come along, have a go at sailing and to learn about the roles of volunteer helpers.

It was nice to selcome some new faces and some returnees. Thank you to the volunteers who enable this to take place.

Preparing for a return to sailing!

It’s not long until we restart sailing in the second week of September!

A team of volunteers prepared and rigged the boats today ready for the start!

Also on 6th September volunteers took part in training which covered the new COVID procedures, as well as safeguarding, rigging and using the hoist. It was great to see all the volunteers again.

Harry Marriott

It is with a sad heart that we have learned of the death of our dear friend Harry Marriott.

Harry was a founder member of CVSS and he loved to spend his time with new volunteers teaching them basic knots and sailing skills among many other things. He was a competent sailor who loved his time at the lake. Over the last few years Harry was a regular Wednesday volunteer. He ensured our sugar levels were always topped up by the ever constant supply of doughnuts and cakes! He retired from sailing in 2018. He also celebrated his 90th birthday in 2020.

Rest in peace, Harry, we are all going to miss you. Our thoughts and love are with his family at this sad time.
